Yep, the 24th May is our official birthday! Our first show was at Midday on Saturday 24th May 2008 – doesn’t time fly! Listen out for some Birthday shows on the week starting 24th May and make sure you tune in to the Reach Meet (or join us if you can!) live from TCR FM headquarters in Tamworth on Sunday 30th May.

We launched a few new features on the April Your Voice show. Including allowing our broadcasters to show their personal skype / msn addresses under the schedule page of the website when on air for another way to allow people to get in touch.
Also, after feedback from listeners we have put in a ‘Report an Issue’ link on the bottom of each page of the website and on the web player. This allows anyone to report any issues (such as poor sound quality etc) to management so that we can take appropriate action, the issues can be reported anonymously.

A new feature we’ve introduced recently is to allow our Loyalty or Loyalty Lite presenters to upload a pre-recorded show if they are unable to to a live show. Although live shows are preferred we understand that our presenters are not always able to do this, it also gives our presenters the chance to book a pre-recorded show into a slot that they might not have been able to do live, for example our UK presenters could book a pre-recorded slot into an overnight slot, allowing our US listeners to hear it and vice versa!
We hope this new feature will be widely used and give more flexibility to our members in terms of broadcasting shows.

There are a lot of our presenters who use a DJ alias, so to help them keep their DJ image we’ve now introduced a feature to allow our presenters to replace their full name on our site with their DJ alias instead! This was an idea mentioned in our forum (www.reachfm.co.uk/reachforum) and we were only too happy to sort this request.

As we’re having a bit of a drive of Reach’s social network sites (see Dan P’s forum post here) I took Brandy’s suggestion from that forum thread and you will soon be seeing a nice big promotion on the front page for Reach OnAir on twitter, facebook and myspace. Follow, find and befriend us!

For those who caught YV (February) you’ll see we have just launched AirText (along with some other stuff). So here’s just a bit more information on it.
We wanted a way of people following the live shows on Reach wherever possible. Alot of people when at work can’t listen in but still want to keep up to date with the shows. Alot of broadcasters want to let the listeners know what is currently playing, the answers to a quiz questions, hot topics etc……
AirText allows the OnAIr Dj to update what’s going on in their show, and the listener to follow wherever they are, even on their phone! The page will auto update, so no need to refresh!
So we have created AirText. Now AirText is as new to us as it is to you. We’ve designed it with the broadcaster and listener in mind, but at the same time we’re happy to take your feedback – we’re sure you’ll have some great suggestions for improvement!

On the front page that is. To keep up with the nice tweaks on the front page are some nice images. The reach room has been re-built with some new bricks and the listen image is due to appear very soon. Not forgetting the intro picture to our shiney new video clips. Plenty more where these came from.

We launched a few new site enhancements during the ‘Your Voice’ Show on 31st January, details below:
Front Page – Show Genres
Every show broadcast on Reach OnAir can have up to 3 genres associated to it and now we can see those genres in a tag cloud on the home page of the website. Basically, it will show all of the genres coming up and the size of the word will depend on how many shows are coming up from that genre – it will show you just how many different shows we have! Also, if the word is in Red then it means a show from that genre will be broadcast in the next 24 hours!
Front Page – Reach Room Scroll Bar
We now have Reach Room updates scrolling in a box at the top of the home page of the website. You can then click through to the Reach Room by clicking the text!
Front Page – Most Played Artist
If you’re a presenter you’ll already know, but if you’re a listener or new to Reach you probably wont know that we require all broadcasters to log the songs played in their shows. We already use this information on our ‘What was that song’ page, but are now also using it to display the most played artist at the top of the home page. This will constantly update as presenters log their shows – it will take all the artists played in the last 7 days by our broadcasters and take the most played from that list!
Schedule Page
We have updated the schedule pages to include a small image of each show to liven up the schedule pages – lovely mug shots there!
